Historic Response to 72 Hours of Prayer and Fasting for USA

A world-wide call to pray and fast for the USA went out from Australia and New Zealand on 25 April 2013 from the team at Australia’s National Day of Prayer and Fasting. The video Call to Prayer can be seen at www.nationaldayofprayer.com.au The Australian team felt led by God to bridge the US National Day of Repentance www.dayofrepentance.org on 30 April and the US National Day of Prayer www.nationaldayofprayer.org on 2 May with a worldwide call for 72 hours of prayer and fasting for the USA. This was humbly and gratefully received by American prayer leaders during a teleconference on 24 April 2013.
David Rowsome, one of the Australian organisers, said, “As we look back we stand amazed at what the Lord has done. The response from around the world to this prayer call surprised us all."
Jonathan Edwards, the mighty American revivalist of the First Great Awakening and widely acknowledged as America’s greatest theologian, wrote in 1740, “When God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of His people”.
We believe this is what we have just witnessed in this world-wide call to prayer. Many media outlets and prayer networks, including several global ones, very quickly took up this call. Confirmed reports from 28 countries around the world have been received and we believe there could very well be many more. We will not know the full response this side of eternity. But God does!

David Rowsome continued, “A strategic prayer partner was the International House of Prayer Kansas City www.ihopkc.org At short notice they responded with a special focus on America in the times of intercession for three days. The live global web-streaming from the 24/7 Prayer Room captured the heart of the call to prayer. In the atmosphere of continuous worship we saw the faces of many nations as they offered urgent, fervent and heartfelt prayers for the awakening and revival of America.”
Many ministries around the world linked hands. An intercessor from Ireland responded to the call with these words – “Yes, God’s global army awakes, moves by His Spirit and will glorify His precious Son!” Clearly, God’s end-time army is taking its place, preparing for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as promised in Acts 2:17-21. The US National Day of Prayer reached a new and exciting level reporting it as “the single, largest mobilized effort to prayer in the history of our nation with more than 42,000 events”. We can only believe that God has indeed used “the extraordinary prayers of His people” around the world to bless America!

A Letter from Pastor Jeff Daly USA to Warwick Marsh Australia.
Clearly the Lord used the 72 hours international call to repent, fast and pray to take the National Day of Prayer in the USA on May 2, 2013 to a new level. Australia and New Zealand prayer partners, and those from another 26 or more nations, began to flood the USA with prayers starting on April 30, 2013, even before we began in the USA. This wonderful wave of love and unity, together with the spiritual disciplines of fasting and personal repentance, had to have moved the Lord to act to begin to heal our land. We can never thank you enough, and we stand ready to use this strategy in every corner of the planet as His Holy Spirit may direct in His timing.
Many are reporting a breakthrough, as did Sara Ballinger from Capitol Hill Prayer Partners. Her email stated: "I can tell you that, in Washington at the National Observance, the GLORY of the Lord fell upon all of us and was present throughout the day. We are hearing reports that the same sense of His Presence and His Glory was also evident across the nation, as reports keep coming into our office of the events that took place in all 50 states. Praise the Lord!
The key word she believed she heard from the Lord as to the issue of same-sex marriage was a great encouragement:
“Until now, many of you have been referring to this decision as a type of ‘ROE V WADE II’ in your nation. But know that this is not the case! In the time of Roe v. Wade, I did not have a praying church in your nation, and NOW I DO! The watchmen on the wall are now in place; stand therefore in faith, and watch what I will do as you continue to cry out to me for this Court and for your land.”
Additionally, Dion Elmore from the National Day of Prayer team in their summary conference call did not specifically mention the 72 hour process but confirmed that there was a huge sense of the Lord's Presence in the actual Capitol building in Washington DC, standing room only, as prayers were offered on May 2. Standing room only was also reported in many other State capitols.
1. There were some obvious key developments: unity in the body of Christ. Clearly we were experiencing the Truth of Ephesians 4:1-6 that we are one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith.......
2. There was for many a new understanding of the value of repentance for personal discipleship and also for a nation's destiny.
3. We saw the power of being bold - it was a mere 18 days from the time the call was proposed.
4. We saw the power of connecting with other key ministries: IHOP/ANZAC prayer ministries/others.
5. Now we are sharing resources: the Day of Repentance website is now using the Canberra House of Prayer "prayer App".
Above all, the three day process opened up the Holy Spirit Wisdom to several key people - there was an openness to Holy Spirit Wisdom seen in different words given.
Already we are planning a national day of repentance for September 13-14, to coincide with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. And we are aware that September 14 will be a day for national elections in Australia; clearly prayers for God's Hand in Australia will be a focus of that day of repentance.
